Viral infections and colds often seem to arrive at the “perfect” time — for example, when you have a business trip coming up or you have been looking forward to a long-planned party. Illness simply does not ask whether the timing suits you. Especially during autumn and winter, it is therefore worth supporting your body’s natural defenses before you even start feeling unwell. However, vitamin C alone does not guarantee a strong immune system. It takes a systematic approach on several fronts — for example, with the help of comprehensive dietary supplements such as ShieldPro. What does it contain and what makes it stand out?

ShieldPro at a glance

  • Who it is for: People who cannot afford to fall out of their routine, as well as active individuals exposed to high physical and mental demands that may increase the body’s need for important nutrients.
  • What it is for: Supporting the normal function of the immune system and providing daily support for the body’s natural defenses.
  • When to take it: 2 capsules per day, ideally after a light meal.
  • What it contains: The recommended daily dose of 2 capsules contains 514 mg of Echinacea purpurea extract, 500 mg of beta-glucans, 200 mg of vitamin C, 15 mg of zinc, 60 μg of vitamin D3 and 4 mg of BioPerine® piperine.
  • What not to expect: Treatment of an existing illness or a substitute for sleep, a varied diet and the fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle.

When you simply cannot afford to get sick

You may start thinking about your immune system when…

…a cold is going around at nursery or school and, a few days later, the whole family is sniffling. And just then, there is no one at work who can cover for you.

…you are in contact with patients, older people or otherwise vulnerable individuals who could be put at risk by a viral infection you might have. Or, conversely, you could catch something from them. You regularly take “vitamin C” tablets, but it still does not seem to be enough.

…you have a business trip, a demanding project or several shifts in a row ahead of you, you have not slept much in recent weeks and you want to reduce the risk of being knocked out at the worst possible moment.

But the immune system does not have a button you can switch on when your throat starts to feel scratchy. It is a complex system that is worth looking after continuously.

The foundation is, of course, sleep, sufficient energy and nutrients, physical activity, recovery and your overall lifestyle. During more demanding periods, when one of these pillars is lacking or when germs seem to be coming at you from every direction, the immune system needs even more care. That is when dietary supplements can come into play.

The well-known vitamin C, however, is usually not enough on its own. At the same time, this does not mean that you need to swallow a handful of pills every morning. ShieldPro combines no fewer than five scientifically studied ingredients for immune support in one comprehensive formula, making it easy to incorporate into your long-term daily routine.

What is ShieldPro?

ShieldPro is a comprehensive formula for daily support of the body’s natural defenses. It combines five ingredients that play different roles in immunity: echinacea extract, beta-glucans, vitamin C, zinc and vitamin D3. BioPerine® piperine may also help support their absorption.

Beta-glucans: one of the most interesting ingredients in the formula

Beta-glucans are polysaccharides naturally found, for example, in yeast and cereals. In the case of the yeast-derived beta-glucans found in ShieldPro, research focuses mainly on their ability to influence certain components of the innate immune response.

Clinical studies have, for example, identified an association with the frequency of symptomatic cold episodes. The proposed mechanism of action includes activation of white blood cells, which play a key role in our immune system.

Echinacea: a plant traditionally associated with immunity

Echinacea purpurea is one of the best-known plant-based ingredients associated with immune support and respiratory health. In addition to its use in traditional and natural medicine, its effects are also being studied by scientists, who have identified a possible influence on the ability of immune NK cells to recognize and eliminate target cells.

Based on the available evidence, echinacea alone cannot yet be described as an “impenetrable shield against viruses”. Nevertheless, it appears to be a useful part of a comprehensive approach to supporting the body’s natural defenses.

Vitamin C: a well-studied classic

You may have expected more “exotic” ingredients in ShieldPro than the familiar vitamin C. However, in line with the philosophy of the NOZONO brand, there is no reason to ignore proven substances simply because newer ones may sound more appealing.

The role of vitamin C in immune system function is very well studied and recognized in approved health claims. According to European health claims, vitamin C contributes not only to the normal function of the immune system, but also to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and the reduction of tiredness and fatigue.

In ShieldPro, it is also combined with piperine, which may support its absorption.

Zinc: an important mineral for immunity

Zinc is another micronutrient that our immune system needs in order to function normally. It contributes to its normal function and also to the protection of cells from oxidative stress.

But not all forms of zinc are the same. ShieldPro therefore uses organic zinc bisglycinate, meaning zinc bound to the amino acid glycine. This form is often associated with better bioavailability than some inorganic forms, which may also be more likely to irritate the stomach.

Vitamin D3: essential for more than just bones

We usually associate vitamin D primarily with healthy bones, teeth and muscles. But its role in the body does not end there. According to approved health claims, it also contributes to the normal function of the immune system.

The season of viral infections also overlaps with the period when we are less exposed to sunlight, which supports vitamin D production. From autumn to spring, vitamin D supplementation is therefore — at least for people living in Central Europe — almost essential.

ShieldPro also contains vitamin D3 in liposomal form, which is intended to improve its absorption.

So how does ShieldPro work?

ShieldPro combines vitamins and minerals with plant-based and other bioactive substances that:

  • support the activity of white blood cells;

  • target several mechanisms of the immune response;

  • help protect cells, including immune cells, from oxidative stress.

As a result:

  • you do not need to swallow several different capsules;

  • it complements sustainable long-term habits for supporting the body’s natural defenses.

What ShieldPro is not

ShieldPro is not a medicine for a cold or a way to avoid illness at all costs. If you are already ill, the most important things are rest, sufficient fluid intake and, if necessary, consultation with a doctor.

It also does not replace sleep, a varied diet or recovery. If you sleep only five hours a night for several weeks and live under prolonged stress, no dietary supplement will turn your immune system into indestructible armor.

How should you take ShieldPro?

The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules. It does not matter whether you take ShieldPro in the morning or in the evening. Ideally, however, it should be taken after a light meal. Swallow the capsules with plenty of water.

After 2–3 months of use it is advisable to take a break of at least one month. You can therefore plan your use for the beginning of autumn, when viral infections are more common, and then again around the transition from winter to spring, when the body may be more run down after the colder months and we tend to overestimate the warming effect of the first spring sunshine.

When can you expect the first changes?

When it comes to supporting immunity, changes usually do not happen overnight.

First week

The body receives a regular supply of vitamin C, D3, zinc, echinacea and beta-glucans, which gradually begin to take effect. However, subjective changes may not yet be particularly noticeable.

First month

After a few weeks, you may start to notice whether you feel more resilient.

Three months

Regular use may support immune balance over the longer term — for example, observe whether you cope with cold and flu season better than the people around you.

Six months and beyond

If ShieldPro suits you, you can include it in a regular cyclical routine for long-term support of resilience and the body’s natural defenses (2–3 months of use, 1 month off).

Who is it suitable for — and who is it not suitable for?

ShieldPro is intended primarily for people who cannot afford — or simply do not want — to drop out of their normal routine:

  • parents of young children who bring one infection after another home from nursery or school;

  • teachers and healthcare professionals who are around large numbers of people every day;

  • people who work shifts;

  • people who travel frequently;

  • active people who combine sport, work and other responsibilities;

  • anyone who does not want to keep four or five different supplements at home and monitor when to take each one.

People with autoimmune conditions or those receiving immunosuppressive treatment should consult a doctor before use. The same applies if you regularly take certain medicines, especially blood-thinning medicines and medicines used to treat psychiatric disorders. Piperine can affect their absorption.

What does the research say?

  • Beta-glucans and the common cold (2013)

A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study followed 162 healthy people prone to recurrent infections for 16 weeks. Among participants who took 900 mg of yeast-derived beta-glucan daily, the number of symptomatic cold episodes was 25% lower than in the placebo group.

  • Echinacea and NK cell activity (2024)

A randomized, double-blind study followed 80 healthy adults who took 200 mg of ethanolic Echinacea purpurea extract or placebo for eight weeks. After eight weeks, the echinacea group showed a significantly higher cytotoxic activity of NK cells, which form one of the first lines of defense of our immune system.

  • Vitamin D3 and zinc: stronger together (2022)

A study published in 2022 examined the combined effects of vitamin D3 and zinc on immune responses. In several laboratory models, the combination more strongly supported the formation of regulatory T lymphocytes, which help keep the immune response under control, while also more strongly reducing the production of certain pro-inflammatory mediators, such as interferon-γ, compared with the individual substances used separately. Vitamin D3 also increased the amount of zinc inside cells. The combination of vitamin D3 and zinc may therefore influence the regulation of the immune response more effectively than either substance on its own.

FAQ

  • Isn’t it enough just to take vitamin C?

ShieldPro combines vitamin C (250% of the recommended daily intake) with vitamin D3, zinc, echinacea, beta-glucans and BioPerine®. So if you are looking for vitamin C to support immunity, ShieldPro helps you take a more comprehensive approach.

  • Can I take ShieldPro all year round?

Yes. However, rather than continuous use, a cyclical regimen is more suitable: 2–3 months of use followed by at least one month off.

  • Can I take it if I already have a cold?

If you are already taking ShieldPro , there is no need to stop. However, it is not a medicine for treating an existing infection. When you are ill, it does not replace rest, symptomatic treatment or medical care when needed.

  • Could the zinc upset my stomach?

The zinc bisglycinate used in the product is generally better tolerated than other forms of zinc, particularly inorganic forms. However, gastrointestinal tolerance varies greatly from person to person. If you have a sensitive stomach, it is advisable to take the product after a light meal.

  • Can I take additional vitamin C or D3 together with ShieldPro ?

The recommended daily dose of ShieldPro contains 200 mg of vitamin C and 60 μg of vitamin D3. Any excess vitamin C is excreted by the body in urine, but according to the European Food Safety Authority, the tolerable upper intake level for vitamin D in adults is 100 μg per day.

When combining several products, it is therefore advisable to monitor your total intake and, if in doubt, consult a doctor or pharmacist.

  • How much does ShieldPro cost?

One pack of ShieldPro, containing 60 capsules, costs 1 290 Kč. At two capsules per day, you therefore invest approximately 43 Kč per day in your body’s natural defenses.

A monthly or three-month subscription is more cost-effective and can reduce the daily cost to around 30 Kč. And if you are not satisfied for any reason, you can take advantage of a 90-day money-back guarantee.

Taking care of your immune system starts before your throat begins to feel scratchy

We cannot prevent children from bringing a cold home from nursery, stop colleagues from coughing in the office or ensure that viral infections always stay away from us. But we can influence how we take care of our bodies during periods of increased strain.

Adding one well-designed formula for systematic immune support to sleep, a varied diet, regular physical activity and recovery is a relatively small step, but it can make a big difference — both physically and in your schedule.
